Advance Parole

Advance Parole is USCIS-issued travel permission that allows certain non-citizens (most commonly those with a pending I-485 Adjustment of Status, DACA recipients, and TPS holders) to travel internationally and return to the United States without abandoning their pending application or status. It is requested by filing Form I-131. Traveling without Advance Parole while an I-485 is pending is typically treated as abandonment of the application. Advance Parole does not guarantee reentry — a Customs and Border Protection officer at the port of entry still inspects and admits travelers.
